INTEGRATIVE NEUROSOMATIC THERAPY (INT)
Webster’s dictionary defines posture as “the habitual or assumed disposition of the parts of the body in standing, sitting, etc.”
Integrative Neurosomatic Therapy (INT), a method of pain treatment, regards the human body as an integrated system, whose parts all relate to the whole. INT specifically uses posture to interpret pain and dysfunction in the body.
As an INT practitioner, Doug Harger investigates a client’s complaint by performing and charting nearly 100 inter-related postural measurements. This takes about fifteen minutes. The finished chart gives him a picture of where, how, and perhaps, why the body is unbalanced. Guided by these measurements, and a strong command of musculoskeletal anatomy, Doug is able to palpate and correct the precise soft tissues that cause misalignment. Progress is tracked by re-measuring during and after treatment to ensure the desired changes are taking place.
Measuring the total posture in an objective and repeatable way makes INT unique. With such attention to detail, INT is excellent pain treatment option when other methods have failed.
SPORTS MASSAGE, MAINTENANCE, AND RECOVERY
Sports massage therapists have an understanding of athletic injuries and use a hands-on approach to treating them. In a non-injured athlete, sports massage helps to quickly restore the musculoskeletal and nervous systems to balance. Faster recovery gives all athletes a tremendous competitive advantage.
As a former competitive runner, Doug Harger found that overtraining can lead to musculoskeletal, hormonal, emotional, and nutritional imbalances. A well-rounded approach to maintaining health and performance is needed. In addition to massage for recovery and injuries, Doug coaches athletes to effectively structure their training and manage various forms of stress.
