Body Mind Spirit Wellness Centers were happy to host a workshop on Women’s Fitness & Self Defense offered by Sara Hashmi, student of and assistant instructor or Bapak Waleed ‘Leonardo Stoute’, and member of the International Silat Federation for Yale Students and Affiliates.

Ms. Hashmi took the group to Island Park, a favorite among locals here, and led the group in the steps and movements of Silat Tuo & Silat Minang, which constitute traditional Silat, an ancient martial and cultural art from West Sumatra, Indonesia.

You may learn more about traditional Silat and Bapak Waleed at the International Silat Federation website.

The Power of Meditation with Reverend Lela
Friday, May 7th, 6 – 9 pm This event is Free
This Friday, we are going to do something special—-we will start at 6pm with an indoor or outdoor (weather permitting) labyrinth walk followed by a guided meditation. This will get us perfectly in a place of peace to have dinner and watch a movie. We are going to watch a movie called “Flow: for the love of water” ~about the world water crisis and the economics of water. We will order some form of take out for dinner so please bring $5-7 to contribute. I look forward to seeing you all there. In Peace, Rev Lela

The movie–Irena Salina’s award-winning documentary investigation into what experts label the most important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century – The World Water Crisis. Salina builds a case against the growing privatization of the world’s dwindling fresh water supply with an unflinching focus on politics, pollution, human rights, and the emergence of a domineering world water cartel. Begging the question “CAN ANYONE REALLY OWN WATER?” Beyond identifying the problem, FLOW also gives viewers a look at the people and institutions providing practical solutions to the water crisis and those developing new technologies, which are fast becoming blueprints for a successful global and economic turnaround.
