Our Mission

The Body Mind Spirit Wellness Center was founded to provide a collaborative space where therapists, instructors, and anyone with a passion to share could offer their insights and skills to anyone from the community who might be in need or simply have an interest.

We are a non-profit organization, managed by volunteers. We are always looking for additional volunteers to aid in the daily operation and very important marketing tasks that must be done to help this resource in our community thrive.

The Philosophy Behind our Efforts

The folks who have come together to launch the Body-Mind-Spirit Wellness Center share a common goal background in that we all have also experienced great benefit from the practice of Silat Tuo, a Traditional Indonesian Art and Way of Life. Like many arts from the east, traditional Silat also carries its own philosophy which can be explored to great depths. It is also the mother of and origin of many other disciplines. On a very simple level, Silat practitioners are encouraged to pursue the following ideals in every moment:

  • Learn about one’s true self with the goal of reaching a natural state of self awareness, inner and outer
  • Serve the greater good at all times adhering to high standards of social chivalry and family
  • Embracing everyone with openness and sincerity to all
  • Respect, Belief, Patience, Faith, Truth, Zeal

Of course, a true Master of Silat guides their students toward much more, but even these simple tenets are sufficient to inspire and guide us in the creation, maintenance, and growth of the Body-Mind-Spirit Wellness Center as a means to heal ourselves and serve others in the process.

Our journey creating the center began long before 2000. We are quite thankful for being part of that guiding force and light that has entered the hearts and minds of infinitely many, worldwide.

Visitors to our center will also notice a hint of Sufi imagery, and we are often asked about it. The center is officially nondenominational and any and all faiths and spiritual paths are welcome to come and use our spaces. But, we do have a soft spot in our hearts for the principles of universal love as expressed in the Sufi tradition, and therefore some of our artwork, our music, and our events follow that inspiration.

Our objectives bring us to a center, an oasis, and valuable resource for all members of our community. For those of you who share this passion, come and share in the experience!

Come, Come, Whoever You Are
Wonderer, worshipper, lover of leaving.
It doesn’t matter.
Ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come, even if you have broken your vow
a thousand times
Come, yet again, come, come.
